Physical Description Edit
Clouhorsious (pronounced /clow:hor:si:us/) is a species of herbivorous animal that live on the planet of Silhorsta (pronounced /sil:hor:sta/). They are anywhere from about 2 ½ feet (miniature clouhorsious) to about 6 feet (draft clouhorsious). Clouhorsious’ have many different features from different types of earth animals. If you are comparing to earth animals, they are a horse but instead of having a normal tail, they have a “mermaid-like” tail sticking out above it’s 2 back legs. It also has gills on its neck and wings that fold onto its back with waterproof feathers. The gills make it so they can breathe underwater, but they can also live on land and fly in the air for up to 4 hours at a time. Their can be the same color as horses and can have spots, be plain, can have “socks” on their feet, and markings on their face. The give live birth and don’t lay eggs. They usually have 1 clouhorsious foal at a time. They can have twins but there is a high chance one or both of the foals won’t survive. They can have 2 births per silhorsta year which is exactly 2 times the length of an earth year.
Clouhorsious’ live in herds of 5 to 20 with one leading male. The rest of the group has an about equal amount of males and females. Every once in a while there is a fight which involves a lot of kicking and smacking with their tails. These fights for males are usually over mates and don’t happen very often because once they mate, they mate for life. With females, these fights are usually when foals get mixed up between the 2 and they fight to get them back. For the most part they are very peaceful animals. If a predator tries to attack, most of the females will protect the foals while the rest of the females and males fight off the predators.
Clouhorsious’ live on the recently discovered planet called Silhorsta. The planet’s climate is warm and is usually between 60 and 80 degrees fahrenheit all year round, night and day. They only bad weather is every other monday between 11 pm and 4 am there is a thunderstorm which keeps the plants and ground from drying out. The warm atmosphere allows many plants that the clouhorsious’ eat like purple polamo grass, hortionan wheat, and the fruit of a runderion tree. There are 10 known species that live there including the clouhorsious. They include the piperalioum, the graciecamous, and the stellacoman which live in water, the leomadonis, the finniquanim, and the oreonimus who live on land and the sunnyaliton, the stormotartom and the bonieplaticus which live in air. No insects of any kind have been found there yet. This planet has a few small lakes and 3 oceans that are usually 70 degrees fahrenheit. The area is mostly flat with a few small hills. This planet also has a lot of caves which are very helpful in providing shelter.
Physical Adaptations Edit
Clouhorsious’ have a lot of adaptations that help them survive in their environment. These adaptations help them hide from their predators which only live on land. They can fly and swim underwater using their wings, gills and tails. They have big ears so they can hear when something is coming from a ¼ mile away. They can sleep standing up, under water and hovering in the air. Their thick, muscular tail can be moved up and down to propel them through the water at speeds of up to 45 miles an hour for up to an hour at a time. Their horse-like hoofs and strong legs help them run at a speed of 60 miles an hour for 30 minutes. Their sturdy wings help them fly 50 miles an hour for 2 hours.
Clouhorsius are the prey of Leomadonis. They are very good at avoiding them because the leomadonis’ can only live on land while the clouhorsious’ can live on land, in the air and in water. Their herd leader also helps by warning when something is coming. They are also much faster than the leomadonis so they can escape easily. The leomadonis’ usually try to attack at night when the clouhorsious’ are sleeping because there is a better chance of catching one.
Behavioral Adaptations Edit
Even though clouhorsious’ can live in the air and in water, they always seek shelter in caves at night. When they can’t find shelter, the form a circle around the foals and have 2 of the herd members stay awake to warn the others if something is coming. They usually continue this for 6-7 hours and each group is on shift for 1 hour. They never have to worry about finding food because they eat the purple palmano grass that covers the face of the planet.
